Our boards and commissions are integral to our city’s growth and development. Consider applying to serve in one of the following.

Meeting Frequency

City Council

Help lead the city, set policy direction, and represent resident priorities.

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline
  • Mayor: Residence 1 year in state prior to the filing deadline; 1 year in city prior to election day
  • Council Member: Residence: 1 year in state prior to filing deadline; 6 months in the city prior to filing deadline

Monthly - Third Tuesdays @ 6:30 PM

Cultural Education Finance Facilities Corporation & Higher Education Finance Facilities Corporation Assist in financing cultural, educational, and recreational facilities that benefit the community.
  • Hilshire Village residency
  • Interest in community development or public facilities
  • Willingness to review financial documents and project proiposals
  • No finance background required - Bond counsel provides guidance. 
As Needed - Applications are Infrequent
Board of Adjustments  Review zoning variance requests that shape local development.
  • Hilshire Village residency
  • Ability to review zoning ordinances and property plans
  • Comfort participating in public hearings
  • Fair, impartial decision-making
  • No legal background required - City Attorney guides the process
As Needed - Applications are Infrequent
Planning & Zoning Committee  Guide future planning and development across the city.
  • Hilshire Village residency
  • Interest in land use, development, or neighborhood planning
  • Ability to read maps, plats, and planning documents
  • Willingness to attend occasional workshops or joint meetings
As Needed - Convened by City Council for Special Projects
Elections Help ensure smooth and transparent elections. Serve as a poll worker or ballot counter. 
  • Hilshire Village residency
  • Eligible to vote in Texas
  • Available during election season
  • Ability to follow state election procedures
  • Committment to neutrality
Annually - Elections are held in May
Tree Board  Support tree preservation, planting initiatives, and sustainability efforts.

  • Interest in trees, landscaping and sustainability
  • Comfort participating in Arbor Day and community events
